What is a Professional Wall Oven

A professional wall oven, or professional-style wall oven, is designed to have the look and feel of a commercial wall oven, like those you would find in a commercial kitchen or restaurant setting. They offer users ample space in the interior, with a sleek exterior made of premium materials and fine details that stand out from the rest.

You’ll often find that a professional wall oven will also come equipped with advanced features and capabilities. Some high-end wall ovens might come with Smart Features, so you can connect and control your appliance from your smartphone. Others will have cooking-specific features, like versatile modes to control the temperatures to your exact liking, built-in temperature probes, smooth glide racks and more.

Different Professional Wall Oven Sizes

As no two kitchens are the same, professional-style wall ovens come in different sizes to match the rest of your kitchen suite. Many brands offered additional sizes than just the ones that fit with standard cabinet width to provide versatility in other spaces, like luxury penthouses, upscale recreational vehicles and more.

Width

When measuring your wall oven, the different sizes of appliances available are based on the width. Below are the most standard professional wall oven sizes available:

  • 24 inch wall oven – Ideal for smaller kitchen suites in a penthouse, cottage and more.

  • 27 inch wall oven – The most standard wall oven width, which can fit with most cabinetry made by manufacturers.

  • 30 inch wall oven – A wide wall oven to fit more cookware when entertaining or cooking for a larger family.

Depth

The depth of your professional wall oven size tends to vary based on the different features it has. Most often, high-end wall ovens have a depth of 21 to 30 inches. The various sizes in depth allow for your wall oven to be matched to your cabinetry, but also provide you with more capacity in terms of the type of cookware you use. For instance, longer baking or cookie sheets can be placed in a deeper wall oven with ample room to spare.

Height

The biggest range of measurement for the size of your wall oven comes with the height of the appliance. This is due to there being many different configurations you can choose from. Whether you select a speed oven or microwave oven combination, two stacked wall ovens or other features like warming drawers, these additions will impact the height of your wall oven.

You can find wall oven height ranging from 27 inches to 55 inches.

Professional Wall Oven Configurations

Depending on your needs, you can choose different configurations of your professional wall oven to fit your lifestyle. These different configurations and setups allow for flexibility and installation in other kitchen areas, like built into your cabinetry or under the countertops in a peninsula.

Single Wall Oven

The most common configuration is a single wall oven. You’ll often be able to find standardized cabinetry that fits a single professional wall oven size, so you do not need to have customized cabinets built to fit your appliance.

A single wall oven takes up less space in the kitchen, but still utilizes otherwise underutilized cabinetry. Another benefit of a single wall oven is not having to lift or move heavy cookware up from a lower over to the countertop. When your wall oven is along your cabinetry, you can easily move larger dishes like a full roast or dutch oven to your counters.

Double Wall Oven

A double wall oven is two wall ovens stacked vertically on top of one another. When choosing this option, you’ll have to account for the standard height for double wall oven available for installation into your kitchen. However, the additional size of the appliances provides you with more capacity for cooking, baking and broiling.

This configuration provides maximum flexibility if you are keen on entertaining many guests or cooking for a larger family, as it allows you to cook different ingredients simultaneously. For instance, a 27 inch double wall oven will give you the option to bake bread while you are roasting a chicken below. This also provides you with the option to use other functions, modes, techniques and temperatures at the same time.

Microwave Combination Wall Oven

While other configurations give you a higher capacity, a microwave combination wall oven offers versatility in your space. This configuration comprises a wall oven below a speed oven or microwave oven.

A wall oven and microwave combination configuration frees up some counter space in your kitchen by installing the units into your wall. It also is convenient, as both appliances are now in the same location to make meal preparation a breeze. This could be an ideal option for families or individuals frequently on the go, as you have various heating options in one place.

Additional Configurations

Looking for a configuration that does more in your kitchen? Other models available provide you with even more versatility in your kitchen. Built-in steam and convection ovens offer a new way to cook without sacrificing space. These appliances expand the standard modes in a wall oven, and allow the user to cook, heat or reheat using the power of steam for optimal results.

You can also choose to have a warming drawer under your wall oven to ensure all your dishes are ready for serving simultaneously.

How to Measure a Wall Oven

To measure your wall oven, start by measuring one edge of your appliance to the other to determine the width. It is also essential to measure the with of your surrounding cabinetry if you are installing the appliance into an existing spot, as that will determine the right width for your kitchen.

Then, measure your wall oven height and wall oven depth the same way you measure the width. While it may seem convenient to buy the same size appliance you already have, you should always remeasure the space you have available when upgrading your wall oven.

If you are opting for a customized configuration, talk with your builder or designer to ensure the kitchen layout has ample space for your ideal professional wall oven size.
