SEAMLESS HIDDEN KITCHEN DESIGN WITH KERRIE KELLY

DECEMBER 01, 2025 | 4 min read

Gone are the days of the kitchen needing to have a traditional look to function like a kitchen. The latest design revolution—dubbed the no-kitchen kitchen or the hidden kitchen—focuses on making the kitchen appear not like a kitchen at all, but a multipurpose space in your home. Designer Kerrie Kelly adopts the emerging and popular trend of concealed kitchen design by stepping away from the classic kitchen in favor of a seamless and stylish space.

This principle combines state-of-the-art appliances with truly innovative design features and aesthetics to transform the kitchen into a truly multifunctional space that makes a statement even while seamlessly blending in with your home.

“To me, that means being able to tuck away our appliances that we’re so used to seeing everyday.”

- Kerrie Kelly

WHAT IS A NO-KITCHEN KITCHEN?

This design style uses the kitchen as a multi-purpose space. With our kitchens often being one of the areas of the home we use the most, hidden kitchen cabinets, hidden pantry ideas or the removal of upper cabinets make it feel less like a room just for cooking and more like an entertainment space. Everything is intentionally hidden away, ensuring that you’re not seeing appliances, glassware or other everyday kitchen clutter when you enter the room.

A no-kitchen kitchen or hidden kitchen can be achieved through panel-ready appliances that seamlessly match the cabinetry and integrated, built-in cabinetry that tucks things like shelving, glassware or built-in appliances away to create a seamless, minimalist veneer. Even movable counters concealing items like sinks, cooktops, and more from view in the kitchen. Continue reading to learn about some unique concealed kitchen ideas.

BENEFITS OF A HIDDEN KITCHEN

A concealed kitchen allows you to have a clutter-free aesthetic, letting the moment focus on entertaining, where guests don’t see the prep or aftermath that comes with hosting. With intention behind the use and purpose of each space in the kitchen, it also allows people to be better organized, thinking about the layout and utility of their kitchen. In the hidden kitchen design that Kerrie Kelly created, each cabinet door hid an element of the kitchen, allowing each door to be opened if a certain appliance was needed and the rest to remain closed.

A no-kitchen kitchen allows for a completely cohesive space. The seamless look of cabinetry and appliances allows your kitchen to blend into the background, which is particularly beneficial for contemporary or high-end interiors. For designer Kerrie Kelly, she likes to choose materials that pair well together, like cabinetry in the same shade of a countertop or kitchen hardware that complements the lighting. When everything pairs well together, there are fewer visual interruptions in the kitchen, allowing designers like Kerrie Kelly to be more purposeful with the way they make a statement in the room.

While many may think a large area is needed to apply hidden kitchen ideas, this design trend actually works great in small spaces. It maximizes your kitchen, allowing it to serve multiple purposes by blending the areas of living, cooking and eating into a single, combined space. The no-kitchen kitchen will also enable you to conceal areas and close off items in the kitchen without sacrificing style.
